How these settle

Each hour Kalshi lists ten markets on one number at the top of the next hour: "81° or above", "80° or above" and so on. Each YES pays $1 if the number is above that step.
The number is the city's Kalshi Weather Index, not one thermometer: the average of five to eight airport stations' one-minute readings, each adjusted for how warm or cool it usually runs.
It settles on the index at the hour (the latest minute Kalshi published at or before it). Kalshi publishes every minute, a few minutes after it happens, and that's the number shown here.
Every hour is Eastern time, even in Chicago and Los Angeles: a "2 PM" market there settles at 2 PM Eastern.

The index is Kalshi's own, published at kalshi.com with its method (each city's contract terms, Appendix B). Almanac shows information and tools. It never says what to buy or sell and never places an order.
